The Beast from The East is sat in my Garden, on my roof, and covering everything for miles around in 12" of the white stuff!!
No work since Wednesday. Local shops denuded of anything of any nutritional value.
On the plus side I'm getting some serious decorating done!

I could hear the wind whipping about outside and thought, I ain't taking the dog out in this!! Seeing as she has already done her business. Or should I say, mess. (Getting sick of this, most nights.)

Re: The Beast From The East?

I do. A group of us were telling some kids about it today (they were off school because of the weather poor lambs). We weren't let off school no matter how bad the weather.

Some of the modern railway companies could take a leaf out of British Rail's book - no stopping for leaves on the line in those days, just bung a snow-plough on the front of the engine in snowy weather and off you go...

Yes I remember 1962/63 very well. We didn't go to school (caretaker shut down the boilers when we broke up for Xmas, and the pipes froze and had to be replaced, so we had an extended xmas break). Me and the kid next door built an iglooo (Inuit fashion) on the grass verge outside our houses.
