Re: What do YOU collect??

I used to collect soft toys. I created `Animalia` for Jenny starting soon after we met. Many traveled with us and I would photograph them prior to writing a story for her. After she passed away many went to charity but a few remain. Des and Zano, two frogs, rode on her coffin and still guard her ashes.

Re: What do YOU collect??

Collecting "stuff" is a bit of a silly thing to do imo. A great deal of what some people collect is absolute worthless junk and they just get themselves into the "collecting trap", that is . . they get so far into collecting it that they are so mentally attached to it they can't get rid of it. So they are forced to devote parts of their homes to storing the stuff. Extremists go for actual display cases, others just pack the stuff in boxes and put them in the loft or garage.

Those who collect valuable stuff for an investment, that is a different matter. That's essentially a financial proposition that makes sense provided that proposition is a profitable one. Thus collecting certain pottery and so on.

But people collecting things like little Lego figures, glass ornaments, all things frogs, or cats or dogs etc. That's a mental condition imo. To those people I would urge them to de-clutter their life and move on.

Edit:

Another classic piece of collecting nonsense, imo, is all the "Pandoras" bracelet charms. It's just junk that isn't worth anything near the price they charge. Why people collect it I shall never know.

Re: What do YOU collect??

I would rather collect something i love than something for financial gain. My collection of music has brought me great joy and happiness down the years.

You do seem to be a bit sanctimonious Realist, telling collectors they are mentally ill.

Re: What do YOU collect??

I didn't say anyone was "mentally ill". I said it was a "mental condition" and only when the items have no intrinsic or future value.
