Not a bad idea.

"Delivery KontainerOrang thesis steel box has been changed to a living space for many years, with a box of supplies to homes were very small. Architects and designers are grabbing onto the concept of using a thesis in a more modular. Transform shipping containers into homes to take some creativity. It is a very small, measuring only eight feet wide and twenty feet long up to the wall is made of heavy steel. Several boxes can be stacked to create apartments, or welded together to create a larger home square footage. source."

One of these converted containers would by nice in my side garden, in the Summer the wife and all her Sisters could sit out there all day drinking tea and gossiping away.

Re: Not a bad idea.

There are lots of innovate ideas out there that could supply cheap housing , biggest problem people have with making them though is planning permission and cost of land.

Seen lots of innovative ideas - very cost effective - but thats it, not seen them actually assembled and people living in them

Re: Not a bad idea.

We went to see some in London Patsy, they were containers but with less glass than the one in the picture, two storeys and three long, so 12 single person dwellings. Looked very nice only trouble was due to location and land prices they were £75,000 each. And lovely as they were that is a huge amount of money for what they were especially as you cannot get a mortgage for them.

It's new to me Ladies, I'm just licking my lips here thinking of the wonderful spacey shed I could have with a container that size, God they'd never get me out out it, I'd have to be buried in it.

Nice and all that but the cost? What is that about? You could knock up a shed for a fraction of the amount mentioned or even park a caravan there instead.

Re: Not a bad idea.

Sadly getting permission for a caravan is even less likely than a container, in some countries they have large parks full of "caravans/trailers" people live in them and they work well for people who have little money but here we seem to have a horror of helping anyone live in anyway that doesn't involve brick and mortar and huge costs.
