I don't see the danger of electrocution really......mines a chest freezer and the ice tends to gather around the top. I just play the hairdryer for a short time over the top edge of the freezer.....if that makes sense. The drier is never in danger of water or ice dropping on it.
These are all very interesting methods and I too have used
a hairdryer in the past.
Before I got the Frost-Free model, I used to use an aerosol
can of de-icer for car windscreens, very quick and easy, if
you are worried about the de-icer fluid in a food storage
machine, you just need to wipe down the walls, dry them
and switch on for a short time before returning the food.
You can buy proper Fridge/Freezer defroster spray from Lakeland for £4.99......
That is true Mags, but because it is called Fridge/Freezer
Defrost Spray, it costs as you say £4.99.
Car windscreen De-Icer Spray is exactly the same stuff
and costs between 60 - 99 pence per large can, there are
a lot more people buying it for their cars than buying the
other for their freezers.
A job I always detested and put off long enough until I expected a polar bear to be looking at me when I opened it. But ... the refrigeratior died and the new one's freezer compartment is self defrosting. Ahhh, bliss.
