New tax in October

All land line telephones will have a new tax imposed on 1st October, . . . a tax of 50p a month to help pay for nation wide broadband for people living in the countryside, . . . . now I had the chance of a country cottage in the Trossachs 13 years ago but declined it, . . I have fibre optic broadband here and also good shopping facilities, I didn't want to loose these, . . . why should I now be forced to pay for country dwellers getting broadband ? . . . if they want broadband, as long as there are 40 or more people living near them, they can get a mini-exchange installed at a cost of £2,500 each, . . . either that or flit to a town like the rest of us.

Why indeed-the money saved connecting them is far less than the cost of them having sex in the family or putting eels/ferrets up their their trousers.

As galty said, this (along with the 'cider tax') is one of the budget measures which was lost when Parliament was dissolved ready for the election

So - no need to man the barricades yet
