Re: Changing Medications.

Doctors seem to be on a budget with prescriptions so give you the cheapest option of the same drug, but some people need the alternative ones, owing to side effects.

My nephew, who is in his 20's, has psoriasis and the doctor had been prescribing ointment for 6 months but it didn't work and he had sores all over his arms legs and head.( not great for a single lad )
I did some research into natural treatments and knew that stress made the condition worse. I helped a lot with talking to him and got things from the health food shop in town...but I also did research into what the doctor had prescribed for the last 6 months. I discovered that it contained steroids and should not be used for more than a month.

I got my nephew to make an appointment, and as he isn't the sort to make a fuss, I did all the talking & asked why the doctor had gone against all the manufacturers advice.

He offered many excuses till I told him that if he made the same mistake again I would report him, because it is his job to care for the patients condition... not make it worse!

Within 6 weeks my nephew was much better and suffers far less now than he used to.

Re: Changing Medications.

I was reading somewhere recently about how some doctors are making us ill, rather than curing illness.

I agree with Muddy, I too, don't like cross examining them, but sometimes you have to. I find very few nowadays bother to explain anything in a way we can understand, it is quicker to just write another prescription instead.

Hi

Me.

I just feel so sorry for those who are bamboozled by Doctors.

I am moving soon, no point in putting in a complaint now, but then I will.

Re: Changing Medications.

I was taken off a drug in my practice which I'd been on for 15 years - I could have told them what the consequences would be - racing heart, palpitations and heartburn. I had to go to the senior G.P. whose practice it is to get it re-instated.

I don't like seeing any doctor I don't know unless it's something like a sprained ankle or other minor ailment. That said, they've been very good with me in the 11 years I've been there and supported me through some serious illnesses (pancreatitis, cancer twice).

I went to pick up my husbands prescription yesterday, he has diabetes, and I am horrified at the amount of tablets he is taking. Blood pressure meds when he's never suffered BP, apparently prevention is better than the cure? If that's the case shouldn't everyone in the country be on them? Tablets for this tablets for that. In my mind the only meds he needs is Metformin.. he is talking a LOT of tablets, how can all these drugs be doing his body good? All these tablets are probably what will kill him eventually. And not the diabetes

Re: Changing Medications.

There is a case to be made for tablet overprescribing, particularly tablets for mental health - anxiety, depression, mood altering antipsychotics.

But what of the essential tablets? I know that I'm on tablets to counteract the side effects of the ones I really need. I had to take 27 tablets this morning (but 20 were the same kind).

Re: Changing Medications.

My mother is currently in hospital and she took her tablets in with her. The hospital took them off her and gives her medication. Mum says some are different and she is not taking as many. For years she has eaten like a bird. Now in hospital she looks forward to her meals and eats them and a pudding.
Before this stay in hospital she was seeing 3 consultants in different hospitals and her GP. All of them prescribed tablets. I hope this stay in hospital will sort out her meds so that she can again enjoy her meals.

Glad people are coming to their senses on that. The entire industry is now just Big Business for Pharmaceuticals who call the shots. They effectively own and control the health industry. GP's, doctors, nurses, hospital workers all are genuine people . . . BUT . . . .they have to tow the line. That line is passed down from the top.

The old classic Flu jab is a prime example. If you work in the NHS you pretty much HAVE to get the jab otherwise you'll be noticed. They run employee incentive schemes with bonuses for the groups who can get the most flu shots administered.
The focus put on this singular treatment, which is utter useless snake oil, is phenomenal. They expend an inordinate amount of time and money on promoting this fake treatment and all because flu jab sales generate $millions for Big Pharma. Whatever anyone thinks about the flu jab the plain fact is there are LOADS of more urgent, more worthwhile, more needed areas for that focus and expenditure. Mental Health is right up there for many.

I would not "plug myself" into the current health service for anything except THE most dire of emergencies. I take full responsibility for my own health and will take the consequences. I educate myself in regards to what Nature freely provides, plants, herbs and wonderful things brimming with multiple active compounds all working in harmony. Big Pharma and their pills and tablets can go swivel. Their paracetamol tablets have but 1 active compound. A clove of garlic has over 300 active compounds.

The potency and efficacy race between Nature and Big Pharma is like comparing a kids toy peddle cart with a Bugatti Veyron, that's how far these greedy corporate big business shysters are behind mother Nature.

Re: Changing Medications.

Something else worth noting is that most pills are derived in laboratories from plants and herbs and other products of Nature.

That being the case why would you use the pill rather than Nature's product?
