One christmas long, long ago santa was preparing for his annual trip, but there were problems everywhere. Five of his elves had been kidnapped by a garden appliance, the trainee elves just weren't up to making the toys fast enough. Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule. Then Mrs Claus informed him that her mother and sisters were coming to visit.
He went out to harness the reindeer to find that three were about to give birth, two had jumped the fence and no one knew where they were. More stress for santa to deal with. As he went to load the sleigh one of the boards cracked spilling toys all over the floor.
Feeling a little frustrated, santa went back to the house for a quick coffee and a nip of whiskey, only to discover that the elves had helped themselves shortly before being kidnapped and drunk the lot. Even more frustrated he dropped the coffee pot which shattered into hundreds of pieces, so he went to get the broom to clean up the mess.
Just then, the doorbell rang and santa went to open it cussing all the way.
He opened the door to find an angel standing there holding a very large christmas tree.
"i have a beautiful tree for you santa, where would you like me to stick it?" asked the angel cheerfully.
And that is how the tradition of an angel on top of the christmas tree began.
