True, playing God with any live animal is absolute cruelty.

Don't all pet owners do that ? I know mine would live differently if I wasn't controlling the food and housing etc.

Oh no Julie, I just meant in the context of feeding live ones to snakes, etc. Stressing the hell out of an innocent creature when they know they're trapped with a predator & can't get out, that is sick! People own snakes & with it comes extreme cruelty. I think keeping a snake constantly coiled up in a fish tank is also cruel, so there.

Re: 15 new babies

UK, our females are all about 6 months old, still young, but I'm concerned about the time when they're going to get the dreaded tumours, benign or not. Have you had that problem with your girls when they get old?
Our males don't get those tumours.

I agree... Also feeding live goldfish to bigger fish in a tank honks me off. They call them feeder fish. I would keep a fish tank and buy one or two of these feeders just to rescue them. Not any more. I'm done with the fishtank experience.

Agree. I shut down many of our tanks, just have two 75 gallon ones running now, one with a new rescued 11 year old Red Eared Slider, & the other one with 5 Fancy Goldfish. Too much work & of course I have to choose the 'messiest' critters
