I would agree Malc. The majority of type 2 diabetics take Metformin... in fact that is who the drug was developed for, although they are now saying that it can also help type 1 diabetics too because it helps their injected insulin work better and assists with weight control.
A number of type 2 diabetics struggle to control diabetes with Metformin and that is why they are put on insulin, because it is easy to adjust insulin doses and it therefore gives you more control.

Yes Twink, even though I am Type I, I still have to watch everything I eat and drink, my sugar levels will still go up, but I can control it with my Insulin.

Yes......and I did say earlier in the thread.....

"By eating healthily, losing weight (if you're overweight) and exercising regularly you may be able to keep your blood glucose at a safe and healthy level without the need for other types of treatment.

Not all those with type2 diabetes need medication.

Re: Diabetes.

The only real difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes is that type 1 produce no insulin to turn their carbs into energy and type 2 don't produce enough. This means that symptoms are the same but more prolific in Type 1 patients. Basically they are both the same illness but 1 does damage faster than 2 if not controlled.

Re: Diabetes.

There is a huge difference between Type1 and Type2 Diabetes and that is......Type1 cannot be prevented, whereas Type2 can be prevented or delayed with a healthy lifestyle, including maintaining a healthy weight, eating sensibly, and exercising regularly.

True although I do know thin people with type two too, it seems to be being diagnosed in so many more people these days and they aren't all hippos like me.

Re: Diabetes.

They do say that Type 2 Diabetes is mostly Asian People and most of them are very thin, but they do seem to like sweet sugary things.
