Raynaud`s Diseaase.

After a trip to the Physiotherapist yesterday, i mentioned could something be don to improve the condition of my hands as well as the work we are doing on my legs.

She mentioned i had Reynaud`s Disease the symptoms of which are as follows.

Raynaud's affects your blood circulation. When you're cold, anxious or stressed, your fingers and toes may change colour.

Other symptoms can include:

pain
numbness
pins and needles
difficulty moving the affected area.

Mine is probably secondary Reynaud`s due to neuropathy.

Any one have experience of this and any ways to help especially the cold induced pain ? and lack of feeling. in fingers.?

Re: Raynaud`s Diseaase.

I know many people who suffer from this in varying degrees Nom, myself included. When the weather is cold or damp my fingers quite literally go completely white and numb, sometimes just one or two fingers, sometimes all of them. It hasnīt affected my toes, well not so far. Putting your hands under your armpits, sitting on them, or if you are at home putting them in warm water helps.

Yes its been suggested that i use rechargeable hand warmers, and for exercise a tray filed with assorted small items to try and pick up to increase finger dexterity.

A good pair of gloves are needed as well, once my fingers become frozen it takes forever to warm them through.

Re: Raynaud`s Diseaase.

Nom I have known a few people suffer from this, to varying degrees! I am sure you will find a website that gives advice so I would try different methods, in turn, to see which helps you best.

Just type " raynaud's disease " and it will bring up lots of info on the disease and many ways that it can be improved. here is one of them:-

"Calcium channel blockers. These drugs relax and open small blood vessels in your hands and feet, decreasing the frequency and severity of attacks in most people with Raynaud's."

so ask your doctor!

Re: Raynaud`s Diseaase.

I have already done some searches Twink, however i prefer to hear peoples own experiences. I have been asking doctors consultants Et Al for advice on my hands for years with no success, it took a side comment from my physiotherapist that it was Reynauds to at least get me started.

I've never had any Mags, but if I were back in a cold climate I would certainly get some. I know they are quite popular with the "hunting, shooting, fishing" people. I believe you can also get battery warmed socks too.
