First question:
Was the unit fully charged before you used it?

Second question:
Do you have a landing the size of Buckingham Palace?

The handheld unit should not be hot!

No, but I was using the small mattress upholstery tool for testing.

I've just checked with Dyson - they say running continuously will make the battery and motor hot.

Third question:
For how long were you using the handheld unit?

It should run for about 20 minutes, or 6 minutes on high power.

Fourth question:
Has the orange charging light now turned to green?

If you suspect that there might be any fault, contact Dyson immediately. I would.

Re: Bosch/Dyson Cordless Vacuum Cleaners

One to avoid is Nilfisk. I have an 18VDC two piece stick vacuum which performed well - at first - so when the battery began to fail, I e-mailed them for the price of a new on. Can't change the battery. The local repair agent in Soton was more than helpful, but he had nothing. He didn't even have the model listed on his PC ! Grrr The hand unit is almost impossible to take apart, so I could unsolder and replace the battery. Grrr

That's unfortunate.

In all fairness, our Nilfisk pressure washer is reliable and works very well. No battery, of course.

Re: Bosch/Dyson Cordless Vacuum Cleaners

Well, I'll never get to love vaccing, but the Dyson's so good that I use it as a primary cleaning tool, mainly because my old Vax and Electrolux seem to have left a lot of dust behind in their years of use.

At least with the Dyson I can see the amount of dust being sucked up .....

It's easy to dismantle and clean, though, and I've bought an extra filter, since a washed filter takes a day or two to dry.

So far, so good .....

That's an idea, though when I put mine on the radiator (if it's on) it is dry within a few hours. Actually, it's not as if we vacuum every day; more like every three or four days.

We're very clean, you see.
