A few observances about beans; why do they taste nicer cold straight out of the tin? When heating always remember that done in a pan on the stove, the sauce thickens up, but does not do so in the microwave, and a little tip here, always store them upside down, that way they 'settle' at the top of the can leaving surplus sauce at what is now the bottom, making it easier to decant from the tin.

Sorry to say this SJ, but according to the doc on 'Embarassing Bodies' we all, each and every one of us, pass an average of 1litre of gas a day.

Bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes (for me) with an egg and beans, a buttered roll, lashings of ketchup and lots of black coffee.

I hate it when my freezers are full! Too much ruddy choice and then by the time we decide it is often too late to defrost for today.

Knob of butter, and a good splodge of Black pepper, then on hot buttered toast, easy peasy comfort food.

Re: What are you having for lunch/dinner?

We've got two ready-meals today but we don't care!

We always check the ingredients, fat, salt etcetera and these two passed - so that's it as far as we are concerned!

Could we do it ourselves with the ingredients?

No bloody-way!

So why bother or feel guilty when you've done your best, analysed the contents and made your decision - and it costs you just under £6 for a decent meal for two?!

I've no doubt that someone could indeed counter that with a wealth of info from alternative sources but by the time I've factored-in the costs is it really worth the agro?!! stevmk2

Yes you are right Daisymay, I heard it myself on the TV that everyone passes wind at least 15 times a day, you probably don't even know that you are doing it that much.

That was a good tip Daisymay about storing the can of beans upside down in the cupboard, I will try and remember that.

I thought that is a brilliant idea, Daisy, so I told my wife about it. She said 'I store them right way up and open the bottom.'
