Kettles

Had to buy a new one recently - unable to get the same model as before.
This new one creates a fair bit of steam compared to the previous one - which affects the cupboards nearby. I can't move the kettle elsewhere
I wonder why the amount of steam differs

Does it have a proper spout ?
Last time we bought a cheap, jug kettle from Tesco ... works fine.
White plastic with a see-through bit on the side. No probs unless you want to steam open letters !!!

Re: Kettles

Would imagine spout size and shape and the sensor that turns it off will make a difference Patsy, we tend to buy cheapest one we can find as hard water kills them rather quickly so no point buying dearer really.

Re: Kettles

Fed up with looking at kettles - think we'll have to settle for the steam bursts, the spout seems normal to me

Re: Kettles

I wonder if when its boiled it stays on longer than your last one, hence more steam.
I once had one that didn't turn off one day and when I looked at the cupboard above I could have cried, but after about an hour when the cupboard door had cooled off ( I suppose you would say,) it was back to normal Phewwwww

Phew from me too !
I think that's what it is, the steam starts before the actual boil and I think it does take a little longer, I immediately take it off the stand as it switches off - talk about 'watching a kettle boil'

Doesn't solve the prob though, seeing as shops wont let you try all models out first to see which stays on the least time, Mmmmm back to the drawing board

Yes I know ... there is always someone who manages to find fault, but if there are a substantial number of good reviews it's better to discount the mall/contents and regard them as LOOPY
