Child proof caps!

I do model making and woodwork.

Just about every liquid I use now - meths, white spirit, linseed oil - comes in bottles with child proof caps which are fiddly and annoying to use

Is there any way of fixing or jamming them so they can be used like ordinary - adult? - caps?

Or replacing them with something else?

They drive me mad Geoff I understand you can buy products without them but I don't have the time to seek them out.

I don't do well with child tops either.
My hands are going in strength.
I do save ordinary tops sometimes
I have in the past got one of my Grandkids to open
it for me. I do have the safety of high shelving so
out of reach of any young ones not old enough.

Re: Child proof caps!

You can just stop screwing them before they click closed so they open easily, I do that with some bottles. I do agree they are very annoying. They seem to be making tablets harder to access in bubble packs now too the struggle I have to get my painkillers out is ridiculous, I took a knife to it the other day, when I asked the pharmacy they said it's to stop people over dosing - well I can't see it stopping too many people if they are determined but it will stop people in pain getting relief.

Interesting will show my husband as he is often heard muttering in the kitchen in the morning trying to get the cap off his tablets.

Re: Child proof caps!

They should really call them adult proof caps because most children can open them with no problem !

Re: Child proof caps!

I think I've sorted it.

A bit of asking around, and experimentation on my part reveals that manufacturers use the same size thread for most bottles. So I discard the child - proof bottle tops and replace them with ones from fizzy drinks bottles

Damn! Now I've got to drink all that cider!
