Cooker/oven

My top oven on my cooker has gone up the spout and doesnt heat up as it should it gets hot but I cant tell when its up to temperature as the warning light doesnt go off when it reaches the correct temp.
My fan oven underneath still works and so does my grill and hob..I hate using the fan oven as it always burns things..is it worth trying to fix the top oven do you think?
Are there people that can fix ovens?

Re: Cooker/oven

If it heats up it's not the element, much more like the thermostat. Still, that can be fixed too. A new thermostat is about £15 depending on the make of oven.

Re: Cooker/oven

If it heats up, that suggests that the element is OK but the thermostat is duff. An electrician can easily check this.

A genuine Creda top oven thermostat looks to be about £30, but a generic one is quite a bit less. If you get the oven model and google for a top oven thermostat, you should get a good idea of what it would cost. Fitting one shouldn't take long.

Re: Cooker/oven

What you said about the fan oven always burning things Aysa. It shouldn't really. You just have to set it about 20 deg lower than a conventional oven.
200 conventional would be the same as 180 deg fan.
I never have any problems with mine.
