Guttering

Can anybody give me any idea as to what it would cost me to replace guttering to my house?

It is absolutely shot to pieces and, during the recent very heavy rainfall, I noticed that it was literally pouring out of a hole in the gutter.

To replace the existing at the front of my house would be approximately a 5M piece of guttering but of course, I accept that other work on the bits and pieces that hold it up there will have to be replaced as well.

Any thoughts on approximate cost would be much appreciated. It needs to be done soon before the brickwork is compromised.

Re: Guttering

Sorry Mollie I can't help but if I had your problem I would get quotes from, say, three builders and then choose.

Re: Guttering

About three years ago we had a gutter replaced on the front of the farmhouse we have just sold. If I remember rightly it cost in the region of £300 to replace it.

Re: Guttering

I would get the quotes and get it done as soon as possible. It will cost far more in the long run to have to have the water damage repaired and the guttering done.

Re: Guttering

We do it here for our clients but as I'm across the pond I doubt this is of help: our cost is $1.00 per foot for seamless eavestrough (guttering) plus $1 each for brackets, and we install for $2.10 per foot including brackets used every 2-3 ft.

Re: Guttering

It cost me about £140 for a new gutter, and downpipe, but that was some years ago, they replace them with plastic now, so it shouldn't cost a lot, get a couple of quotes.

Re: Guttering

Have you tried looking for a handyman? Our doctors surgery has a small notice board, where people advertise services, such as grass cutting, decorating, handyman, etc., might not be as expensive as a builder..just a thought.

Re: Guttering

A handyman might be cheaper, but you need to ensure he would do a good job, otherwise it could cost you more money in the long run

Re: Guttering

Guttering is not that expensive, probably around £30 £40. It the builder who's hourly rate that will be the expensive part.
