Indeed Julie, has any child ever grown up wanting to be a politician in order to help the oppressed, weak and needy? Hell no! People become politicians in order to get the get their noses in the money trough. All politicians regardless of Party are liars, conmen/women, thieves and corrupt bastards. Does anyone know an honest politician? Bastards the lot of them.......and breathe!

Oh I'm not so sure, there have been a few decent ones that either gave up a lot to be an MP or came up through county councils etc. I always had a soft spot for Tony Benn a man of principle, frank field too. The late John smith and jo cox all great imo

In order to become a parliamentary candidate, he renounced his title which originated from his father and Tony inherited the title the title on the death of his elder brother.

He really really cared on principle he renounced his title etc. I have no problem with people having money I think my posts my have come over that way, it's what they do, how they behave and if they really want to help our country and the poorer members of it. Tony did and he was a kind man too I can remember him in out kitchen in the 60s trying to help my grandad who had nearly been blinded and lost an eye in an accident at work. Between them they and of course others changed the way farms used tractors and made it a much safer job, still dangerous but if you followed the health and safety rules not nearly as dangerous as it had been.

Those sort of men we need in parliament.
