Basic Washing Machines

As it's looking quite likely that our faithful, old Servis Washing Machine may have passed on to the Great Laundry in the Sky, (cue harps!) we're thinking: -

"Sod it, we may need another machine!"

but having decided that, due to the insidious way technology is beginning to baffle the pair of us, we thought: -

"We just want a basic machine, just like our poor old Servis!" so does anyone have any experiences of seeking and maybe obtaining such a machine?

I must add that we'd prefer hot & cold fill 'cos that's what we have now, (Yes we know the argument for & against - still prefer H&C!!). stevmk2

Re: Basic Washing Machines

As far as I know they no longer make hot and cold fill, that was what we were told when we wanted one a couple of years ago. Whatever you do don't get indesit they are just not as good as they used to be and our current has had so many repairs only original piece is the carcass !

Re: Basic Washing Machines

You can still get Hot & Cold machines Julie - I've checked!

My daughter had to get a new one that was built-into the kitchen where she lives so I checked back then to see if free-standing models featuring H&C were still available then. stevmk2

Ah I was advised wrongly then - amazing what they will tell you when they are selling you something ! I would recommend AO online as a seller though as they delivered on time and brought it up 2 flights of stairs.

Re: Basic Washing Machines

I think you're quite right getting a basic machine, unless you are someone who uses all the programmes. It's always basic for me now. I use the same two programmes on my washing machine and the same settings on my microwave. I'm done with fancy household items. I've had them all and realised it was a waste of time as I use the same programmes again and again
Appliances Online are a good company and do lots of basic models at great prices.
