Re: which camera to use

Well I hope I’m not taking this off topic but I was going to make a thread to ask anyways

I want a simple camera that’s capable of taking pictures if the sky at night , fantastic country side but still manage a macro

Is there something out there , I don’t mind second hand, that I could learn on?

I’m sorry but the iPhone and iPad have their limitations

I beg to differ! I have had two Android tablets of different brands in the past. And they were both diabolical with constant stalling and freezing.
I am now on my 3rd iPad. An iPad Pro. The picture and sound quality of this beast are out of this world!

My (ancient) Nexus 5 and my wife's Samsung S6 have both been very reliable. The Samsung's camera, I have to say, is better than mine and pictures are of excellent quality, at least for Internet use.

See if I can point you in the right direction Missie.
Lets start by saying there is not that much difference in camera manufactures, the difference is how easy is it to use and what type of camera.

First is what is called a compact camera , one that doesn't have different lenses for it. This is the type I think will suit you.
The other is a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) where you can fit different lenses to it and can get quite complicated in how to set up.

So lets stick to what is called a "Compact" camera

Here is a list of different makes of compact cameras

https://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk

AS I say I think the compact is the one for you, it is small -light and relatively easy to use. .

Next is to decide on how much you want to pay .

if you see one you like there should be a video on it on you- tube so worth watching.

that is not all, I would suggest you go to a camera shop and see how if feels in the hand, some have very small viewfinders, so worth checking.

Nowadays they all are good it is just a personal choice as regards specification, battery life etc.

Just a couple of quick pointers. There are those that say this make is better than that make "rubbish" it is what YOU want that counts

Canon ones are powershot
Nikon ones are coolpix

Also budget for memory cards and if necessary spare batteries

I think you'd benefit from a zoom lens.
