I remember reading recently about a blind man and his guide dog going down on an escalator in London. He was being shouted at by another commuter wanting to get past him and his dog.

He filmed the irate man on a camera worn by the dog!

Art I got my fear from my Mother.
She got her shoe lace caught in those old wooden ones as a child. So I could never take my boys on one. I'm still scared of them. But as long as no-one is near me, I can manage some.

I've never had any escalator type issues. The only places I go which have escalators are John Lewis and my local shopping centre.

I used to ride the escalators every day to and from work, but now, because of my mobility problems, find stepping on and off escalators are no longer that easy for me.

I ride on escalators a lot,but have never been on one as steep as Yours was Arty,I would have been rather jittery too.
