That's just a myth probably due to the misconception of 'Golden'eye ointment which has nothing to do with gold at all.
And rubbing a stye with a gold ring is likely to cause infection.

Carol I have got exactly the same thing, I've had it now for one week and I keep rubbing my eye which of course makes it worst, I got told to put a hot flannel on it, but its not worked.

They say it's because you are run-down or stressed out.

Purely and simply a stye is a bacterial infection causing a small abscess at the edge of the eyelid, this can occur at any time.

Carol, styes are not life threatening but they are very painful so, if I were you, I would visit a local pharmacy a.s.a.p. as they will be able to offer something to speed the process of getting rid of it.

Hey I have a double sty at home. but I don't think advice on them would help Carol.

I used to get a lot of styes when I was a wee Girl and had to bathe them with boric acid crystals...Doc said it was to do with iron deficiency so had to get iron injections on My bum ..painful.
