I don't get it.

Would someone kindly explain to me what this mania over that Adele woman is all about?

I mean, I know the "music business" regularly manufactures a new "star" from spare parts every two and a half years, and then serves them up to the moron-music market, who dutifully play their parts by responding with the requisite "frantic adoration". But in this woman's case I don't see how the scam can possibly be working.

She's just another overweight wailer, a "belter" in stage parlance, and she's not even easy on the eye. I must admit I haven't been able to endure more than two stanzas of any song I've heard her sing, but from what I've heard, she's overwhelmingly ordinary!

I just don't get it.

Overweight and ordinary.
People like that, they can relate to that.
She even sounds like "Luton airport" remember that advert?

I am not usually into that type of music but she has written some good tunes.

I think most relate to her as her songs are of a personal nature and don't forget she was young when she started out. Everyone needs to start somewhere.

I can remember my grandfather saying the exact same thing about The Beatles

We call her the breathing woman here, you can hear her take a breath as she pauses, no decent singer does that. Potty mouth too and where others see it endearing she stops and starts again when she goes wrong I just see that as unprofessional get it right first time !

Yes, that's probably it, Ruhtio. That would explain it. Everyone thinks they can be a star now, (what with youtube and all), so she probably just reinforces that notion for them by being on a big brightly-lit stage with all the trappings.

I'm in Australia, so I didn't see that ad.

Ah! I didn't know that, Eccles. So maybe that's an attraction for her demographic. Filthy language is mistaken for "star quality" now.

Bit pathetic.

Over rated and stuck up her own *rse IMO. She's one of those people that pretends to be down to Earth like Kate Winslet.

Hmmm, true, but I reckon she should have stopped at around 80 kilos...

Yes, I knew someone would say that, Goldie.

My father whinged about the Stones, (and frankly I agreed with him), but he never criticised the Beatles. Even when I was a Beatles fan, I disliked intensely The Dave Clark Five, and The Stones. Even then, I could see they were invented groups with no talent, dependent on marketing for their "success".

"Adele" is even lower down the order, imo.
