Money for Old Rope.

So George Entwistle is being given £450,000 golden goodbye after just 54 days in the job. No wonder DC wants to abolish free TV licenses for OAP's when the BBC are as generous with our money as this.

So what's the problem Alan, it's only 3100 license fees ....

There's no wonder the working class feel so aggrieved, when the higher echelons are just so b****y greedy with our hard earned cash..

Diabolical...

Re: Money for Old Rope.

You would think Entwistle would have some shame and decide not to take the full amount

I heard the incompetent man being interviewed by John Humphries on the today programme , if I had been employing him I would have sacked him instantly. The problem is there seems to have been no one in a position to do this.

Nice work if you can get it for a quick stint at the BBC, £450,000 is a lifetime's work for most people.

The TV license has always been free for over 65's here, lets hope they don't chop that in the next budget, they cut the Winter fuel allowance two years ago and who knows whats next in the December budget.

Licence fee? You mean you still have to pay for free to air TV? I wonder what they will do when it's all on the Internet? Won't be long...

Just another tax by any other name Bruce, anyone with a television has no choice and it is enforced by law..

My thoughts are that whoever authorised the overpayment (Patten?) should be making the overpayment out of their own pocket, and not the license fee payer...grrr

Barry, since Patton is Cameron's poodle, how about that multi-millionaire Cameron putting his hand in his pocket to pay Entwistle off???
