Hi

Surprisingly enough, our aims are the same.

I am old fashioned Labour. a product of Harold Wilson.

I am no Marxist, far from it.

I am a Socialist, I believe that we should all be treated equally and that we should all work and not be reliant upon others, there is no free ride in life.

Harold Wilson was a Socialist, but a pragmatic one.

He believed in Equality for all.

His mantra was very simple, you work for a living, you do not get ought for nought.

You work for your Boss, enough to pay your wages and then another 10% on top.

He is the one giving you a job, remember that.

No Boss, no job.

A very realistic view of life.

Harold Wilson and my Dad were great mates.

They both started out with very humble beginnings, he was a frequent visitor to our our house.

They were both awarded Honorary Degrees on the same day for services to Industrial Relations.

Harold Wilson encouraged me to join the Trade Union Movement.

I was on the Local Executive of the biggest Trade Union when I was 21.

His advice was ringing in my ears then, and is still ringing now.

No bugga owes you a living lad, you work for it.

You work hard for your job, your boss works harder.

Give him 10% more for his trouble, no more , no less.

Good advice, I can live with that.

There is a learned hysteria about socialist values in this country.
It seeps down from the media, brainwashing otherwise intelligent people.
It's the "Let them eat cake" "On yer bike" "I'm alright Jack.....pull up the drawbridge" sort of mentality.
In the 5th wealthiest country in the world it is all about priorities.
Investing in the wealthy all the time doesn't appear to work for all.

Hi

Where did that come from?

We were the 5th Wealthiest, we are not any more.

We have absolutely no cohesive plan for Brexit.

The EU was the 2cnd largest economy in the world.

When we leave it will still be the second largest in the world, but the very best we can hope for is to shrink from 5th largest to 11th.

That is with the Tories in charge.

If Corbyn is in charge the absolute least you will be facing is a 21% cut in your pension in real money terms.

It appears that Corbyn's Friend, the owner of the festival site, has done very nicely out of the visiting crowd.
A few million into the coffers?
I guess that friend is not one of your targets for "Investing in the wealthy......"

Some can afford to throw them away after the gig - a great many are left behind because they haven't got the nous or the skills to take them down so must think `bugger the expense`.

Re: Jeremy Corbyn's Full Speech to Glastonbury 2017

I thought Corbyn's speech was excellent and Gower Constituency here has now gone back to Labour from Conservative. We must get away from this uncaring austerity which is letting our Public Services go to ruin.

I thought it was interesting that he ended with a quote from a Shelly poem related to the Tolpuddle Martyrs. I have never been to the Tolpuddle Festival myself but know some who have. If you want to call me a comfortably off Leftie you can and it will not bother me!

swimfeeders I must agree with what you say about Socialism and interested to hear that your family were actually acquainted with Harold Wilson.
