Hybrid, Electric a Gas Powered Cars

Could this be a pinned thread please?
Although a Toyota Prius owner, I briefly looked at an battery powered car, as I live on the IoW. First impressions were expensive, and re-sale value poor.

A friend of mine is an EV consultantand also built several electric cars.

He took part in the Nissan Leaf trials and declared it so be a superb motor.

Per resale, I guess the thing is to buy it with a 10 year inention. Electric motors go on for ever without servicing so that's few costs saved.

If you count in depreciation, EV cars must be an expensive venture ?

Just having a nose round Prius cars available, and was pleasantly surprised to see Toyota/Lexus hybrid sales figures. Apart from 3.4 million Prius sales worldwide since 2000, Lexus were 97% and Toyota 31.2% last year of all hybrid models. Don't know about other marques.

Prius are only economical at low speeds on stop/start city roads, once you take them out on the open road they end up very expensive to run - people have stopped buying them.

Let's face it no one wants to drive one you definitely can't drive it like you stole it. Nice idea but a dud.
