Black Necked Grebe taken today at the Sevenoaks Wildfowl Centre. It's the first time that it has been seen there in over four years.

One of a pair that regularly visit. They normally produce three offspring who are usually quite entertaining whilst investigation their new world. I hope the parents produce and bring their brood back to my garden and I can capture some of the youngsters' antics.

Unfortunatly shot through glass. The dark blur in the last picture is the back of a dining chair.



I think they may be building a new nest or refurbishing their old one.



Apparently this leaf was not up to their exacting standards.

First birding outing of the year found me heading up the coast in search of a small flock of European White-fronted geese I manged to locate the flock in a field, distant and in poor light, i took some record shotls.

Just as the sun came through they departed You can see the key ID features, white blaze above the bill, and black bands on the belly.

That's interesting Nom, I haven't seen these before. The belly bands are very unusual
