I suppose most Labour politicians aspire to the premiership in order to fill their boots like the Blair and Kinnock families and build their empires like all good capitalists.
We have had very few really first-rate PMs over the years since the war. I suppose that really only two spring to mind: Churchill and Thatcher.
Of course, I expect to be the subject of much derision from some parties now!
I think you are probably right, I didn't agree with Mrs T but she was a good pm. Blair was too in many ways even though I loathe what he did to the Labour Party.

I have a theory most start out wanting to make the country better, sadly noses in troughs on all sides once they see the rewards.

The most annoying thing is that he should be in prison right now, but thanks to his 'friends' he has managed to escape the consequences of his actions.

I forgot to add that his wife is equally as bad as he is, and they both share that horrible rictus grin which says to the world, "Look at all the money we have accrued by foul means and you can't do a thing about it."
