Dihydrocodeine

My doctor today gave me a prescription for codeine phosphate for my Carpals Tunnel but, upon arriving home, I found out the pharmacist had made a mistake and given me dihydrocodeine instead.

Too late to go back to the chemist, I guess I'm stuck with these and hope they work as well as codeine as they're broadly speaking the same drug.

Hi. Dihydrocodeine is 1.5 times more potent than coedine...so you'll be
pain free and away with the fairies!

Yes, I read that so I'm only taking 1 dihydrocodeine instead of 2 codeine...it will balance itself out. The chemist sounded mortified on the phone but I was OK with him. I wonder how many mistakes he's made in his career.

The doctor seems to think it will clear up as it was the result of a fall but I'm not so sure. It isn't as sore as it was but I'm still having difficulty doing basic things with my hands that I used to take for granted.

Re: Dihydrocodeine

I was given Dihydrocodeine & Paracetomol tablets to be interspersed with Oromorph after surgery some years ago - I did very little except sleep!!!

Re: Dihydrocodeine

That's what I'm about to take (minus the Oromorph); I've not had any pain-killers yet today.
