I also have the tamron 90mm lens and yes it is a very god lens. Using it for macro work lets one aquire a new focus skill when working close up, DOF plays an important part , more so than using other lenses.

I loved that lens Mr Oy, foolishly gave it to a mate when i boughtits bigger brother the Sigma 150mm, not as god inmy opinion.

Tamron 90 mm macro



F.5.6@ 1/200 sec distance away about 3 inches give or take

The cutting edges from an electric shaver. Smaller than a £ coin getting the focus right takes a bit of care. Just to show how precise one has to be with DOF with small objects

Lighting if not having a ring light or dedicated lighting on camera system I use



Cost around £25 +battery

I have the 150mm and it's a lot better for bugs etc. Greater working distance and silent AF. DOF is shallower though which is the only downside.
