Re: Fed up with being ripped off for 'disabled' devices.

I was tempted to say "you was robbed" but given you did the comparison with a standard car engine hoist and yet still bought the marked-up one, you really only have yourself to blame.

In all honesty I think the £185 engine hoist is a rip off too. I mean it's nothing more than a few lengths of steel tubing weldied together and a hydrolic. You could probably get a local welder / tradesman to knock one up for £100.

Being ripped off is my primary pet hate, it's what drives me to be a realist, to look for scams, to look for corruption wherever money is involved. If I have to buy anything, I will always research thoroughly, see if I can make my own or see if I can get it from a local provider.

It's clearly wrong that they exploit disabled products that way though.

Maybe if you looked at things a little more logically then I'd probably agree with you more.

As far as 'I only have myself to blame'....wrong.
I didn't have an option.
Apart from the fact my mum would remove my balls for even suggesting she use an engine hoist there's H&S to contend with.

The care company cannot allow their employee's to use anything other than apparatus fit for purpose nor anything 'used' unless accompanied by an 'apparatus checked and passed' certificate.

Sometimes your need to find fault distorts rational thinking.

Is it new?

I'm probably a bit too wary when it comes to eBay.
When parting with money for something like this, tools, ladders. Scaffold etc I need to see them, in the flesh, so to speak.

My own fault, I suppose.

I will have a look in future, thanks.
