Re: NHS Malaise

Are there no auditors anymore?
I remember in our small engineering company the auditors wanted to know where everything came from and where it went, not much got past them.

Auditors wouldn't do benchmarking though. They sample material variations. There was that guy in a bank who skimmed off a fortune just by taking the nth significant figure off currency exchange differences.

Re: NHS Malaise

NHS is on its knees you seem to be arguing it can't improve because no one can take control of it. That's sad, I am hoping in my life time to see it rise again but it needs people willing to change how things are done and to speak up if anyone suggests a loaf can cost £15 !

Julie I totally agree that they need to sort these things out I am just not sure they have the right skills or motivation. It's like your council building with that canopy. However did that get agreed?

Some people have too much power to spend public funds without proper consultation. Perhaps they should have members of the public volunteering on mini-audit user groups scrutinising the spend each month?

It will be interesting to see what Jezza's new role will mean in the real world.

My goodness if that's true we pay them enough to know surely, we can't keep throwing money at the service if they don't know what they are doing.

The politicians need to make their mind up what they are doing. Because every single government keeps changing things. So these people are probably spending all their time implementing change.

Re: NHS Malaise

I agree there but someone has to realise inside the organisation that money can't keep leaking out in this way.

If a specialist cancer hospital is understaffed you wonder how general hospitals manage.
