Re: Immigration policy
There was a story on our local news about a young lad who's parents are British but because he was born in S.Africa he has been told that now he is 18 he has to go back there, he is appealing to be allowed to stay as he has no one there he knows.Re: Immigration policy
The trouble is that they stupidly pick on tragic cases such as this but fail to pick up countless illegal entrants who live below the radar of the system. So this guy was picked up because he is officially in the system living legally. There have been a few cases like this which just show there is no common sense applied.Re: Immigration policy
Re: Immigration policy
There was a desperate woman on the radio today. She was a cypriot who had married a Brit and moved here I think 40 years ago. She'd had children and then was widowed so no longer had a source of income. When she went to get benefits they told her she couldn't because she wasn't a citizen and she'd have to go back to Cyprus. As an EU citizen married to a Brit she'd never worried about applying for citizenship. I mean why would you? Now they have these ridiculous notions to pick on desperate people who have had a life in the UK for decades and all because of brexit. On the other hand they don't put any safeguards in place at borders so people who haven't worked hard for this country (and I include bringing up children in that), are able to get in with no checks, while those who have had a decent life in the system are treated like dirt.Re: Immigration policy
Easy prey I expect. Also the innocent people who genuinely believe they have a right to stay often present themselves to authorities such as colleges, job centres etc. without a second thought. Whereas the sneaky blighters skirt around the edges and keep hidden.Re: Immigration policy
