The same thing happened when Tom Petty had reportedly 'died'. He had suffered a heart attack but wasn't officially dead thus far.
Wish people would get their facts right as fans and more importantly his relatives do not want to see conflicting reports. It's very upsetting.
The internet is normally to blame.

Mine too Shirley I still play his music when I want cheering up. RIP David, hope you really are at peace now you had few demons in this life.
