What makes you British ?
Hi
Being British, to me, means a sense of fairness.
A belief in our way of life.
A sense of our history, our eccentricity.
I want to preserve that.
Our Democracy, a Vote Counts.
The will of the people, your vote, even if you have nothing, counts as much as the vote of the richest in the land.
The vote of the unemployed in Prees counts as much as the vote of the Duke of Westminster.
The Referendum was an example of that, we are not ruled by the Political Elite, they lost, the average person won.
That is not something that can happen in many Countries.
We should be proud of it.
Our ability to have free speech.
We can call our Politicians all the names under the Sun and not end up in Prison for it.
Many Countries do not have that option.
We are a free Nation, we have Elections, vote for who you want.
If you work for the Government you can still express your disapproval of them.
You will not get shot.
The worst they can do is get shut of you and that will cost them dearly.
You have the protection of our Laws.
I have, in my time, seriously pissed off both Blair and May.
I am still here, not dead, not in prison, my family unaffected.
There are not many Countries in the World where this would happen.
My Pensions are Government, there was no pressure put on me to Vote with the Government line on Brexit.
No threat at all to remove them.
I voted for Brexit, I am not unintelligent or Xenophobic.
I have two Polish in my house at the moment.
I have had Filipinos and Indians in my house, coming to work here in the NHS.
That to me is being British.
I am not afraid of our Government.
I am not afraid of the EU.
I have a deep personal dislike of Juncker.
He is, to my mind, a complete prat.
I have been free to express my opinion without any intervention at all.
That, to me, is being British.
