Very heroic talk as always about WW2 but we did watch them invade/conquer a few countries before we took any action. How many died before we stepped in ?

I wasn't alive then so only have the English version of events to go on.

Also did our brave solders have a choice back then ?
Wasn't that the white feather time ? (signifying a coward if you didn't go?)

What do I know eah?
I wasn't there either, but i do know that our life would have been very different if we hadn't taken the action we did. many of our soldiers in that time were proud to fight for their country and young men who weren't old enough tried to join them... they didn't sit around hoping somebody would do the job for them.
Nobody wants to go to war and, if we could all live in peace together, it wouldn't be unnecessary, but Jihadists don't even know what peace is! Even Churchill recognized that our next problem was likely to come from the Middle East..... I wonder if he would have thought that these terrorist will eventually go away, if we do nothing?

I suggest you get down to your local Mosque and make some citizens arrests.

Up North ? Europe ? Middle East ?

IF we know where they are we can have a WAR (not outside my house though please!)

I've only seen/heard a handful of individuals in UK - surely we can put them out of action?

War is not the word we should be using - things are different these days.
3rd terrorist was an Italian Moroccan.......

What were you saying about only a handful in the UK?

Seems that is a mute point.

Re: Are we at war?

There's around 70,000,000 people in the UK
using a calculator 3,000 is 0.004 % thats Zero point Zero Zero Four percent.

I say again our Government just needs to stop the people travelling to or returning from those camps.
That will help a lot.

That's those ready to attack, an immediate threat...not the overhaul threat.

Let's assume they all go "live" and target us...attacks will get more frequent and bigger.

Take Manchester for example:
3000 killing 22 per attack and injuring 120, for example=66,000 dead and 360,000 injured.

Just grabbing at figures....like you are.
Anything else you'd like to add?

Getting back on track ...
War.

I was beginning to get a little confused ( and then it went a bit off track anyway) ... but are we talking about declaring war and actually engaging in serious, longterm military campaigns in the Middle East?
Surely a war against terrorism is more like guerrilla warfare, not conventional war ...
Al-Qaeda might not be in the limelight these days but no one has managed to eradicate them.

You cannot deal with a threat until it becomes one....most Islamic factions are the same....different name, different franchise, same goal.

ISIS is the new al qaeda.

It's urban warfare...very complex..

That's it....why hasn't anyone else thought of that....if Cameron had we wouldn't be in this mess....we'd be skipping barefoot through meadows and fields.....not a care in the world.
