gutter relacing

today we decided to replace an old gutter around our back porch. The previous owner did another bodge job, even to the extent of putting brown and black gutter on the same run. on top of that the brown gutter was full of tar stopping the flow of water. so now in the middle of replacing.

Job done

Re: gutter relacing

i'd be more worried about the lack of flashing and tile bond on the roof.

I agree Terry, the tiling looks good but a cement fillet instead of lead upstand..

I'm not so sure about the tiling...it looks like there's no half bond(?)

The problems

1) If the tiles aren't half bond there will be water ingress.
This will lead to rotten roof timbers

2) Lead flashing...same as above.

If there's no signs of rot it's not too late to remedy this.

Can you take a photo of the roof from the front?

Re: gutter relacing

The front elevation of the porch roof that shows the tiles in a frontal view.

So I can see the tile bond.

Re: gutter relacing

at least the photos are ok. Just got to wait for a bit of rain to check the gutter repair now.
When we came here those fancy wood cross pieces extended further back and rested on the tiles , not even fixed so I cut theme back and nailed down.

If you think that is bad what about this bodge up in the garage roof

yes it is a wood clamp bolted to the roof supports to stop them moving. Even a wood strut would have looked better

.
AS for garage lighting well I could not believe it

one example was from light switch to pendant light (junction box only) to an outside security light ((junction box only) to a flourescent tube holder (junction box only) and finally to a sodium floodlight.

So called builders like this should stick to child sand pits

You have no idea of the amount of rectification work we have had carried out by professionals or ourselves
