Re: Just another mediocre Bowie performance

A very clever, talented and innovative musician who managed to achieve a brilliant balance between serious rock music, soul, pop and theatre.
While doing that he was like a great surfer - hanging 10, cutting back, carving, riding tubes but never wiping out and always staying ahead of the wave.

He had a great way of making his music sound different...even stuff like Heroes, a classic, he'd tinker with(like in the vid)and they'd still sound awesome.

Re: Just another mediocre Bowie performance

I think the guy had it all and did it all and did it in style.
His music intelligence far out wieghed any of our home grown talents.
To me he is what music is all about.
He as been on top for decades worked with the best or should I say that they worked with him.
So many favourites I could not actually place one song or album above them all.

It was a loss when he died but his music will never die.
My 16yr old grand daughter only 2 weeks ago was buying his music.

Ziggy is my favourite.

We(the UK)have a habit of throwing out a "superstar" every decade or so.

The 60s/70s being the best decades with Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Bowie, Stewart et al.(not forgetting the bands)
George Michael being one of the most recent.

Love them or loathe them....they are superstars in the world of music.

I love the version from the Freddie Mercury tribute with Annie Lennox singing Freddie's vocals. Superb performance.
