Half a tin of 'Fencelife' on its way now Tess.

I've banged the lid on hard, so it should be alright, even if the postman drops it while struggling with dongles cement bags.

Re: I need help!

Just wondering do you need a full fence ? We have farmland behind our caravan and certainly didn't want to pay for a big fence so using old pallets my husband and Nate made a low fence that was just high enough to keep out the weeds. They left them almost as they were and we put plant pots into the top of them with trailing plants in them. Does the trick and almost free. Also no killing of plants or anything.

Re: I need help!

The grass and weeds nextdoor are nearly five feet tall! There's hogweed, budlea, brambles, nettles etc.
Last year I had chippings put down as I couldn't manage to cut the lawn. Now the grass seed has blown over and rooted in the chippings, on top of the weed membrane.
I'm fighting a losing battle and it's ruined my lovely garden.
Apparently, the people who own the house and Garden live in a large house at the top of the village, with a swimming pool, they're not bothered about keeping it tidy. I believe the house has been let recently to two young women, hence the hurried strimming of the lawn. The house was left in a will to the wealthy people, they tried selling it a while back but it's in a bit of a state.
Last time it was let the family in it had several kids and kept the garden quite tidy.
I'm not able to make a fence myself so I'll have to buy one somehow.
Before I moved in there was a hedge with a gate in it so that the old chap living here could take his dog to the fields through the garden. When he died they took the hedge out and put a wire fence up.
I've planted beech to make a hedge eventually, but they're taking a long time to grow.
I'll post photos in a bit...

How my garden looked before chippings, so similar but no grass.

Re: I need help!

We used old floorboads and clematis netting to make a fence when we first moved here and another time we used pallet wood.

The real expense was the fence posts but as pallet wood is fairly light, you could probably get away with 2x2 posts.

If it's not too windy where you live, maybe you could buy some heavy duty tarpaulins and construct something. I have one which is green one side and brown the other.

Re: I need help!

As I said I can't do sawing, hammering etc. So I'm kinda stuck unless I pay someone. Once it's done I hope it will stop the weeds, I'll have to get 6' panels unfortunately to stop those weeds , which means I'll lose the view.
I'm wondering if I should ask the council to have a word, is there something that says people have to keep gardens tidy?
I know you are supposed to deadhead Buddlea now, there's a huge bush, I have several of it's offspring now!

Tarpaulins come with eyelets in place.
If there are posts in place, could you not attach them with cable?
Hmmmmmm ... I guess the posts could be quite short
