Re: Pension Age to rise again sooner

Several of the office workers where I clean are having counselling as the lovely Lady who we all loved died at 65 she was hoping to carry on working a lot longer, but the shock of a colleague dying at her desk has absolutely traumatised them. I predict much more of that will happen in the future.

Also I already get young staff members feeling guilty they are expecting me to clean after them being so much older than them. I'm curious how they will feel if I'm still trying to do it in 13 more years.

How would any of us feel expecting an older man or woman to save us from a fire etc

Would be nice to be able to afford to retire.

Its easy for the politicians to make these decisions when it doesn't affect them

This getting stupid.

Wouldn't it just be better to raise tax so people can retire at a reasonable age?
Bearing in mind some of the matters that have been discussed elsewhere on this forum, I suspect that later pensions may be the least of young people's worries.

Emigrate! Obtain skills and/or qualifications that are in demand and emigrate to a civilised country. This one's had it.

I can't see them changing the retirement age for firemen and nurses. They might raid their pensions though...

I am so happy to have just missed this, but feel for those a few years younger. I wouldn't mind so much if there were jobs for those who have to work over 60. But there are hardly enough decent jobs for the youngsters never mind oldies. Plus employers are ageist and who can blame them. People slow down as they age and are more likely to have health problems.

Good point, bills are a good motivator, better than a personal trainer, and will probably elongate your lifespan.

The younger generation are already moaning about not getting jobs as all the oldies (us) are hanging onto them..
Your damned if you do and damned if you don't. Retire I mean.

What we could do is all put together and buy an island and start our own country for the over sixties!

My idea - I get to be Queen!
Now who shall I pick as my consort?
