RIP Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu

One of the most influential indigenous singers Dr G Yunupingu has died aged 46. He has been ill for some time with kidney and liver disease.

He played the guitar upside down as he was left handed and learned to play it that way and he sang stories of his land in both languages (Gälpu, Gumatj or Djambarrpuynu, all Yolŋu languages) and English.

Re: RIP Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu

Reading more about him it seems his death has highlighted problems suffered by many of the indigenous Australians .
