They can't sting? Oh, so it wasn't that that got me then.
What 'orrible looking little caterpillars they are with all those black lumps on them! I shall look out for those now, thank you.

I guess it was my own stupid fault something bit me, because I wanted to finish transplanting something before it got too dark, and I hadn't got any proper shoes and socks on, just bare foot and 'crocs'. I was kneeling down in the flower bed amongst the other plants when whatever it was got me ankle.
It was very painful, I couldn't sleep much for the next two nights because of the swelling and throbbing.
It was on the third day when I could see it spreading down over my foot as well that I went to the nurse for a prescription.
Guess I'll never know what got me.

I've had infected bites in the past several times, Tess, but this one was the mother of 'em all.

Oooo! You need a brave (handsome) man to suck out the poison!
It's not a tick bite is it?

Now why didn't I think of that!

Don't think it was a tick, Tess. I googled their bites and it seems they have a red centre with another outer ring round them from what I can make out - bit like a planet.

Most of the redness has gone now, but it feels very tender and bruised still.

Sincere apologies if you were right Pesta, but I honestly didn't think your pictures looked like Nom's fly.
I could see no wings or legs on yours, and also wasn't sure whether it was 2 insects one 1 long one?
Didn't mean to sound ungrateful. x

Re: A strange Insect

Hi

I am going to keep away from Northamptonshire from now on, it sounds a very dangerous place.

Houses falling down and now venomous insects.
