Re: Lodgers

I have no problem with lizards at all, but tonight not one has put in an appearance, at least not whilst we've been around. No doubt hiding somewhere.

I do have a problem with the spelling of Gecko, Gekko, Ghekko. It seems to be spelt so many ways.

https://www.spelling-checker.com/how-to-spell/gecko

Any lizard of the family Geckonidae. The geckoes are small, carnivorous, mostly nocturnal animals with large eyes and vertical, elliptical pupils. Their toes are generally expanded, and furnished with adhesive disks, by which they can run over walls and ceilings. They are numerous in warm countries, and a few species are ...............

It must be a "take your pick", all are correct

We called them Chit Chats because of the noise they make.
We did too when I lived in Hawaii. It was a veritable zoo -peacocks, mongoose, cane spiders...the geckos were ubiquitous, and no one seemed to mind the occasional eggs..or dropped tails.

Re: Lodgers

I love Geckos and would be quite happy to have them around the house. We had them in our room in a hotel in Sri Lanka, bit of a shock at first but we got used to them being around. We saw a couple of baby ones that must have been all of half an inch long. Cute little things.

Re: Lodgers

We had them in our house when we lived in northern Australia. There was one living behind a painting in the lounge room. It was entertaining to watch it hunting spiders at night. They are quite stealthy and patient hunters.

Yes, of course! I forgot how much they love living behind the paintings. I recall three young ones, almost transparent, living behind a painting I had done. I wanted to put in a charity auction, but I couldn't bear the idea of uprooting the little ones so the painting stayed.
