Re: When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life: Samuel Johnson

With all respect here to those who have always lived in London and love it, may I suggest that it is because you have always lived there, that you are totally accustomed to it, and therefore you will not see it the same as country bumpkins do?
Seems a reasonable logic to me.

Would you like to hear cocks crowing daily, and enjoy the smell of pig muck?
Or hear cows bellowing at night because they have had their calves taken away?
Do you know what it is like to have to pull over onto the grass verge to let a combine harvester pass during harvest?
Do you have to pull wellies on every day after October just to walk the dog?

These are only a very few things I like about country life.
I would miss those things in any big city, not just London.
I was brought up in a big city and know the difference between the two worlds.

I would never be happy without fields and greenery around me.
I dislike noise and crowds.

The only other place I feel I would be happy, is on the coast somewhere.
Never a big city - anywhere.

We are all lucky if we live in an environment we are happy in.
No one is right or wrong. It is just each to their own.

I do now Mups. It's taken me a while to get used to it.

London has long been and still is a multicultural dumping ground.
That place proves beyond doubt multiculturalism is an outright and utter failure!
2 years ago I went to London and got off the train at Euston, and my first impression was:
What ruddy country have I landed in here?!

Oh, take care! I got shot down for stating the same thing!

Not that I care about being shot down; I'm quite used to it and it certainly won't change my opinions.

I said much the same right back in post 27 as well JBR.
I also saw how many of the shops had changed as well, to accommodate all the foreign foods required now.
