Here's another question: How long were you in the RAF and what did you do?
No problem at all Carol, it's good fun
I served 12 years in the RAF. My trade was Supplies & Movements which covered everything from technical, electronic and maintenance supplies to aircraft and vehicles. There were other areas too such as clothing and refuelling duties.
On the Movements side I would ensure that aircraft were fully operational with all the equipment they needed for operation and I would order, supply and arrange transport for items to be despatched to overseas bases.
I did tours at RAF Northolt (The Queen's airbase), Brampton and Waddington. I did overseas tours and detachments in Belize (twice) and Italy (7 times, for the Kosovo War crisis).
I left the RAF after 12 years as I had recently got married and my wife wanted to remain at home with family. At 60 I will be eligible for a pension and hopefully that will enable me to go part-time.
