I use subtitles too on shows I download. If they are not available with the show then there are plenty of sites that provide them - this is just one:

If the subtitles don't quite sync with your version of show there are also sites that will retime them for you. eg

we have them on with some films ...some are so bad speaking - or go into a whisper --jeezzz need a ear trumpet soon

Wish there had been subtitles on season 2 of WestWorld, which I've just finished. As if the convoluted plot was bad enough, the mumbling going on was dreadful. Chief culprit, Jeffery Wright as Bernard, straight from the Marlon Brando School of mumbling!!
