Yes Carol, I was terrible in my teens. I viewed girls as something terrifying and didn't know how to approach them at all. I gained some confidence when I began going out with my mates. The drink helped!

Myself and a friend used to take part in music quizzes around local pubs when I could get back home from the RAF, and we were at one particular pub (incidentally Paul Heaton and The Housemartins' local The Grafton in Hull) on the same night as my friend's wife was playing ladies darts in her team in the other room. My future wife was also in the team and we all sat down after our respective games and chatted.
We went out for a date and really hit it off at a fancy dress party a couple of months later (in my mate's kitchen )

Well the film Reservoir Dogs had been out recently at the cinema, so I decided to be a gangster. I saw myself as Harvey Keitel's character, "Mr. White". My wife was a nurse I think. An eneasy combination to be honest!
