I think that's very sensible and humane.

I must get some fish.

Re: Hosepipe Ban

Hosepipe ban pending in the North West apparently. We in West Yorkshire will be lining up along the Yorks/Lancs border to stop the Lankies sneaking over to Scammonden to fill up their buckets.

Oi! I'm a Tyke by birth.

Surely, I can pop over for a fill up?

Re: Hosepipe Ban

If we do get a ban here, then I shall remove the hosepipe from the tap and fill my watering cans instead probably using just the same amount of water but not through a hosepipe.

When I see evidence that Charles & Camilla et al are saving their bath water to water their runner beans then I might consider doing the same.

Yes, that in practice is what most of us would do. You use a certain amount of water to achieve a specific objective. It just takes a bit longer without a hosepipe.

Having to do it 'the slow way' might discourage some people and, as I mentioned earlier, those who leave sprinklers running all day would have to stop doing that or risk a £1000 fine.

I wonder whether Charlie and the Dog would be fined £1000!

Of course, take as much as you can carry in your pockets.

Re: Hosepipe Ban

Considering the number of fires there have been in the North West in the last few weeks, I wonder how much water the fire services have used and how much of a difference that might have made.
There have been loads of fires in this area, just about every day (although not anything like the moors) but I think most of our water comes from North Wales so not sure if we will be affected as they were focusing on the reservoir in Cumbria when I saw the news.
Anyway, we survived in 1976, we will survive again.

The year I spent lowering bucket after bucket of bathwater down to water the damn carrots and leaks !

There's no ban here yet but I've just bought Myself a cool silver watering can

What will You do to save water if You are?

I have 5000 litres of tank water saved from run off from my roof. They were subsidised by the state government during the 10 year millennium drought.

Nowadays they just take up garden space.

Re: Hosepipe Ban

Hi

There is absolutely no need for water shortages here in the UK.

It is a result of Privatisation of our Water Companies, no investment and all the profits going to shareholders, many of which are foreign.
