Re: Two or three courses

Val I know where you're coming from. It's not a case of "just eat what you can and leave the rest", it's a case of not putting too much on a plate if you specified that. Some folk don't seem to get it. It's psychological, and let's face it, we all want to enjoy our food.

Re: Two or three courses

My wee dad is 84. He used to eat like a horse. Finished off everyone's leftovers. These days his appetite has changed dramatically. I'd never have thought. He wont eat potatoes, which he loved, doesn't like some meats, like he loved. Wouldn't look the road of a beer or whisky. So different from what he was. He does has dementia, but it has affected him in so many different ways. My mum still loves her food. Although tends to eat earlier in the day and eats less in the evening. Definitely an age thing.

I am looking forward to, or dreading really, when I get to Bournemouth for my September holiday, as it's delicious soup, with a roll, a filling main course, then a heavy pudding!! And it's a 6.30 serving. Wonderful meals there, but which I couldn't repeat at home. Too much.

I end up having to take a walk down to the beach afterwards to walk some of it off.
I couldn't eat a meal in the evening Jazz I'd never sleep, so, I always have a good lunch then a very light tea at 5 ish then nothing at all, not even a drink until breakfast at 6.30....

I'm the opposite! If I eat a main meal during the day I get soporific in the afternoon. So my main meal is always in the evening. Rarely more than one course, though.

Re: Two or three courses

Always had a meal and mostly a pudding, never a starter but being diagnosed coeliac has put paid to that. Bad enough finding a main meal I can have without even contemplating a pudding. Only ice cream anyway so not too bothered.
Good job our appetites decrease with age!

Mine hasn't! I feel like a glutton having read through this thread - but I still enjoy my full 3 courses.

Have to admit I do not go overboard with portion sizes, but I do love my food.
