Having all but finished the Patio, and repaved over the existing Paving, the walking area has been raised by about four inches. The dog has trashed our lawn (that was poor quality anyway) so I would like to purchase a couple of tonnes of riddled top soil (our soil is heavy clay), spread this over the present lawn, then re-turf on top.
Can anyone see a problem with this?
I would suggest aerating the existing lawn first as it is more than lightly compacted. WE have just done a major moss clearing exercise on ours and then used lawn seed mixed with top soil.
Turfing is quite expensive depending on type of turf used. The advantage of using turf it is instant but does need quite a bit of watering in.
Having a fairly large garden i spiked it with this
Thanks for the advice RS, I thought along similar lines, a Landscaper I do some work for suggested I used a preparation to kill any moss/clover etc in the existing lawn, to save transferring to the new Lawn.
