The freedom to have your own friends yes. The freedom to meet who you want. I know my husband and trust him doesn't worry me one bit he has friendships I know nothing about.

Julie, l think it might if it happened in reality! You would question why he was hiding it from you, if it was innocent?

Re: Hiding friendships

But no ones saying you cant have the freedom to have your own friends ....just not to actively hide them from your partner.....nothing to do with trust ...if someone actively hides something from me then I would seriously wonder why

Re: Hiding friendships

It all depends on what kind of friendship it is .... if it is innocent fun and laughs like a few members on here have, I see nothing wrong with that. The problem would occur when maybe a single person read more into a friendship with someone of the opposite sex who already has a partner. That could lead to problems.

Single people wouldn't have reason to hide it from anyone.

I haven't seen the programme Aysa but when you talk about hiding friendships from your partner I do wonder if it is all innocent fun .... sounds more like they have something to hide.

If my husband had friendships I knew nothing about with women - that he never talked about and kept secret from me, I wouldn't like it!!

There wouldn't be a very nice atmosphere in our house if I found out!

I was watching The Wright Stuff the other day and this question came up on the show ...35% of people in their survey said that they had hidden friendships from their partners...thats quite a high number ...the panel on the show all said that they wouldnt stand for their partners having hidden friendships from them and that it would seriously put strain on their relationship..

My view is if someone is hiding a friendship from their partner then theres obviously more to the friendship than theyre letting on otherwise why not be open and honest about it.
If you can't be honest with your partner about everything there is no point in having a relationship. My husband and I tell it like it is even if the truth is uncomfortable.
